Building Bridges offers a tender and nurturing environment for your child’s first preschool experience. Our gentle phase-in process at the start of the school year allows each child to separate gently into their new setting. It is also a special time for your child to begin to bond with their teachers and to make friends with classmates. Once phase in is behind us we begin to focus on encouraging the children to explore at their own pace through free play, arts and crafts, music, cooking, outdoor/indoor play, dancing, movement and singing.
Storytelling is an integral part of our classroom experience and we encourage children to connect their outside worlds to their classroom environments through lively and interactive picture books. We place a strong emphasis on childhood development rather than your child’s age, because of all children, regardless of age, learn, grow, and develop at their own pace, and in their own unique way. Our curriculum is designed with your child’s needs and abilities in mind. We’ll help your child with understanding routines and offer activities designed to develop emerging mental and physical coordination.
For two-year-olds, small group experiences introduce collaborative learning in a comprehensive program focused on:
· Cognitive development
· Language development and communication
· Physical development and health
· Social and emotional development
· Focus and self-regulation
Teachers choose experiences that focus on reaching milestones for each child in the program, while the classroom is designed to provide a comforting, stimulating environment. We foster self-confidence, play skills, interaction and independence throughout the school year and place a lot of influence on their fine motor skills and social and emotional development.
